FishEUTrust Showcased at High-Level R&I Event in Brussels
On 23–24 June 2025, the FishEUTrust team proudly took part in the R&I for a Competitive Green Transition conference in Brussels, a key satellite event of the European Research and Innovation Days.
The two-day gathering brought together policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders from across Europe to explore how research and innovation can drive the green transition while enhancing Europe’s competitiveness and resilience.
The agenda featured critical discussions around green and blue diplomacy, empowering green start-ups, and tackling green disinformation. As one of just 15 projects selected (out of 150 projects!) to showcase our work, FishEUTrust was in the spotlight.
The team demonstrated two of the project’s core innovations:
🔹 Sensor technology for detecting toxins and antibiotics in seafood
🔹 The immersive Virtual Supermarket to assess consumer preferences, which proved to be a crowd favourite among attendees!
We were especially honoured by the visit of Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, who stopped by our stand to learn more about the tools FishEUTrust is developing to build trust in sustainable seafood. The event was a fantastic opportunity to share our innovations, connect with other forward-thinking initiatives, and strengthen our role in Europe’s sustainable food future.
